Lúc kết thúc buổi chạy 30km, cảm giác của tôi cực kì thoải mái khi đã vượt qua 1 thử thách đáng nhớ. Ngoại trừ cảm giác mỏi nhừ ở toàn bộ 2 chân (đùi trước, đùi sau, đầu gối, bắp chân, cổ chân và bàn chân), thì mọi thứ đều ổn cả. Tôi biết rằng mình sẽ hồi phục sau khoảng 2 ngày, và trong đầu đã nghĩ đến kế hoạch chạy làm sao để ngày Chủ nhật tiếp theo sẽ chạy lại route này trong tầm 3h45.
3 anh em quyết định ghé vào quán café trong dinh Thống Nhất để uống nước và review lại buổi chạy. Long và Phát vẫn kêu đồ ăn để nạp lại năng lượng, còn riêng tôi lúc đó chỉ thấy khao khát 1 li café. Vì lúc sáng dậy sớm vội đi nên tôi chỉ kịp làm vài ngụm. Vả lại, sau 4h25 phút chạy dưới nắng tôi vẫn không thấy đói. Thế là mặc cho 2 bạn trẻ hì hục ăn, tôi làm tì tì 2 li café và 6 li trà đá. Kệ, đã chạy xong rồi, giờ là lúc lắng nghe tiếng gọi của cơ thể và đáp ứng cho nhu cầu nào cấp thiết nhất.
Về đến nhà đã gần 12h, tôi leo lên bàn cân và kinh hoàng khi thấy kim dừng lại ở số 65kg. Trước khi chạy tôi cân thử là 68.5kg, chạy xong nạp lại gần 2l nước, vậy mà vẫn sụt 3.5kg. Có nghĩa là trong buổi chạy tôi đã bay mất hơn 4kg.
Ngủ trưa 1 giấc ngon lành từ 3h đến 5h chiều, tôi dậy chơi cùng Voi và Nai rồi ăn tối. Sau đó lại 1 giấc ngủ thẳng tắp từ 8h tối đến 6h sáng và cảm giác mỏi chỉ còn 1 nửa.
Chiều ngày thứ Hai, tôi chạy nhẹ 3km để thúc đẩy cơ thể mau hồi phục. Đến tối thì cảm giác là đã hồi phục 80%, cảm giác mỏi ở chân gần như không còn nữa. Tôi tự nhủ sẽ dành thêm ngày thứ Ba để hồi phục hoàn toàn và ngày thứ Tư bắt đầu luyện tập cho buổi chạy 30km tiếp theo.
Mọi sự sẽ tiếp tục tuyệt vời như vậy nếu như không xảy ra sự cố vào chiều ngày thứ Ba. Trong lúc chờ thang máy, tôi đứng gần chỗ mấy đứa bé đang đùa giỡn và bị 1 hộp nặng rớt xuống bàn chân trái. Đang lo nhìn bảng điện tử nên tôi không kịp thấy để né tránh. Chỉ kịp thấy đau nhói rồi cơn đau lan tỏa cả bàn chân. Nhấc thử cái hộp, tôi đoán chừng gần 5kg vì thấy nặng ngang ngửa quả tạ 5kg trong phòng tập, hic. Đến tối thì bắt đầu thấm thía.
Đi lại bình thường thì chỉ đau phía ngoài bàn chân, nhưng thử chạy nhẹ 1 chút là cảm giác bàn chân muốn phồng lên và cái đau như xuất phát từ trong xương. Rờ nắn bàn chân trái từng chỗ một để thăm dò, tôi xác định được chỗ đau là phần metatarsal.
Và tôi biết là kế hoạch phải thay đổi. Giờ thì ưu tiên số 1 là phải lành chỗ đau, những việc khác tính sau…

How are metatarsal stress fractures treated?
The most important treatment is to rest your foot. This means avoiding any exercise or activity that may have caused your stress fracture. Elevating your foot can help to relieve pain. Your doctor may also suggest that you take simple painkillers such as paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen. Special shoes are available to help to immobilise the fracture and support your foot so that you are able to walk. If pain is severe, your doctor may suggest that you have a below-the-knee plaster cast until the fracture is healed. Surgery for metatarsal stress fractures is rarely needed.
When can I return to activity?
Stress fractures normally heal without any complications and, in time, people are able to return to their previous activities fully. You can return to your activities when you can perform them without pain. This may take up to six to twelve weeks. When you do start exercising again, you should gradually build up your activity levels after a stress fracture.
